Who Wore It Best?

Cheyenne usually has snow or ice, rarely snow AND ice. Until this year. My system of wearing shoes when it is slick and my traction-free boots when there is snow isn’t working so I was on a mission to find boots with traction.

Kudos to the folks at Trade Home who found me two pairs I like for a great price. Plus they were really fun.

I found the skirt that had been lost since Thanksgiving this weekend – it was hanging in the closet. I’m excited to have awesome boots to wear with it tomorrow.

But my purchase leads to a burning question. Who wears this box best?

Oh wait, it turns out this box is one size fits all!

Disco Kitten

Last year during the family Christmas shopping trip, I bought myself a pretty teal shirt covered in clear sequins. It seemed to be a perfect amount of festive and I was really excited about it.

Then I wore it.

Before noon it had rubbed sore spots on my arms. By the end of the work day I couldn’t wait to take it off. I’m pretty sure I did take it off the second the door closed behind me.

This shirt has been in my closet for a year. It has survived several rounds of culling because it is so pretty, even though looking at it made me sad because I was never going to wear it again.

But then! This week I realized that I could protect my arms and cover the more offending sequins if I wear a cardigan over the shirt. And so I did. Plenty of sparkle, no road rash.

And there’s an extra, unanticipated benefit.

Three solid hours of sparkle reflection entertainment for the brown kitten. By the time the sun stopped coming in my office window and the light show was over, Obi was ready for a nap.

His brother was happy to oblige.

The Big Box and Plastic Intestines

I needed a bigger bag to put my computer in. Of course I didn’t want a plain black boring one, so I was off to amazon.com to do some searching. I am a big lover of the amazon.com and all the random stuff you can find there. This is the bag I found.

It arrived yesterday. It arrived in a box big enough for four of these bags. I pulled out my new toy immediately so the kittens could play with THEIR toy.

Oliver has been inside. Obi has been inside. They’ve both been outside. They have NOT both been inside, oddly. The plastic packing intestines that filled the rest of the box are strewn across the rug. The box has been all over the living room, solely under kitten power.

This morning, the box had moved to the edge of the rug and was wedged against the recliner and the laptop box. The intestines were piled in front, and inside. Obi discovered a cave under those intestines and between the box and recliner. It. Was. Perfect.

He sat waiting. Waiting for the unsuspecting.

When The Boy brought me my coffee, I suggested he should go be unsuspecting. He went and looked in the box (not following instructions) but there was no brown kitten. He looked behind the recliner, but there was no brown kitten. He looked under the flap of the box, but there was no brown kitten. I finally told him where the brown kitten was.

Obi wins the hide and seek portion of this game. He waited again for someone to be unsuspecting.

Obviously The Boy messed this part up.

Oliver, who watched the whole thing, decided to do his duty. He got up from our blanket. He stretched. And then he walked slowly, unsuspecting, across the rug.

And the thunder? ON!
